All for Him Podcast

Verse of the Day: 1 John 4:4

Episode Summary

Jesus has already won. No matter the obstacles, the challenges, or the burdens... Jesus remains LORD in both the hills and the valleys.

Episode Notes

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” — 1 John 4:4

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.” — 1 John 4:1-3

Episode Transcription

Today’s Verse of the Day comes from the book of 1st John, chapter 4, verse 4, which reads:

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” — 1 John 4:4

Let’s start by deep diving the beginning of the chapter. Who is the them that is being referred to? To answer this, let’s look to the first three verses of 1st John:

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.” — 1 John 4:1-3

What does this mean? Let’s put it all together:

We have no reason to fear. The same spirit that rose Christ from the grave lives in us, and greater is the One who is in you than that of the one who is in the world. Jesus has already won. He won! You name it, He is sovereign over it, and He has already won the battle. As a child of the Living King, that is not something you have to figure out. Know this, Jesus has already won.

Today, let’s do something different. We all have and hold obstacles, challenges, burdens, and mountains maybe that we are already encountering, or that maybe we will come to meet in the journey ahead. Know or unknown, we are going to pre-determine to declare Jesus the winner over it. Even if things don’t go our way, know that without a shadow of a doubt, Jesus has won.

Before you do anything else today, make a list of what Jesus is already declared the winner of. Maybe for you it might be sickness, relationships, finances, jobs, grades, bills, the future, the anxiety, the depression, the confusion, the what feels like endless cycle of dating, the acceptance letters, the awards, the trophies, pre-determine to declare Jesus the winner.

As you go throughout this week, know that the One in you is so much greater than the one that is in this world, and have a great day!
