Over the course of this week, we are going to be doing something never before done on the All for Him Podcast. We, my friends, are staring a message series. I think that you would agree with me that burdens are a part of everyday life. It might be…

• As my professors always emphasize for me — working when you are working and resting when you are resting — that burden can be a challenging dynamic
• It might be trying to handle stress, confusion, manipulation, etc.
• Maybe you are trying to balance school and life and sports and Church and family all within the same amount of time and they are having to fight over what priorities trump the other ones
• It could just simply be knowing that Jesus Christ is LORD and that He died for you on the cross… that He is working all things for your good. But yet you keep getting pounded, hit, hurt, and it makes no sense. And you might be like… “Ty, where is Jesus in this?”

For the series, we are going to be camping out in Habakkuk 3. But before we jump in, we are going to go to our focus verse for the series — Matthew 11:28-30. Here’s what it says…

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” — Matthew 11:28-30

Let’s pray. Heavenly Father thank You for who You are. LORD allow this series to draw us closer to You. We love You, thank You, and praise You. In Your Holy and precious Name, amen.

In the middle of burdens, what are we called to do? Run to the LORD.

The title of today’s episode is God is Able. Turn with me to the book of Habakkuk, chapter 3, verse 2 or feel free to follow along with me on the YouVersion Bible App linked in the show notes.

“LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.” — Habakkuk 3:2

• We serve a faithful God who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow
• Habakkuk the Prophet had a burden (Enduring Word Commentary provided examples)
  • He announced the coming judgment on Judah
  • He dealt with tough questions he brings to God and God’s answer to those questions
  • His name is even derived from the Hebrew verb “embrace.”
    • “He Who Embraces” or “He Who Clings”
    • It is appropriate because Habakkuk comes to a firm faith through grappling with tough questions
• He was praying for a revival — he prays “LORD I have heard of you, I know your fame, I stand in awe of all that you have done, and I ask for you to do them again... to remember them in our day, and to make them know in our time.”
• Shawn Johnson in Attacking Anxiety (I highly recommend reading his book, whether you are experiencing anxiety or not, but here’s what he said) **— “I told the church that whenever you are struggling, one of the best things you can do is start reminding yourself of all the things God has already brought you through. “Let your memories preach to you about God’s faithfulness,” I’d encouraged. “You’ve been here before. God came through back then, and he’s going to do it again.”
• What does he know — God is able...
  • To carry our burdens
  • To do things that go right over our heads
  • You may not have the slightest clue of how God will do it, but be rest assured that He will
