Episode Transcription

Good morning, good afternoon, or good night! Thanks for joining me today for another episode of All for Him. My name is Ty, and I am so glad you are taking time out of your Tuesday (or whenever you are listening this) to spend it with me and to spend it in God’s Word.

Before I get started, just some housekeeping stuff… As you may have noticed last week, I released episodes on Tuesday and Thursday and for the time being, I will probably continue this pattern. With that out of the way, let’s jump right in.

In the book of Psalms, chapter 130, verse 5, we read:

“I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.” — Psalms 130:5

This psalm is a part of a group of psalms called Songs of Ascent. There are 15 Songs of Ascent, ranging from Psalm 120 to Psalm 134. These psalms were sung as Jewish pilgrims ascended up the long hill road to the town of Jerusalem for the various festivals held in the city. If you want to read more about what the Songs of Ascent, I have linked to an article from GotQuestions that will be able to provide more information about the topic. If you haven’t heard about GotQuestions in before, it is a website that have a large bank of Biblical questions and answers that are a good resource to be used in conjunction with your studies.

Okay, so let’s zone in on Psalm 130 now. The psalm is anonymous, so we are not aware who the author of the psalm is. In verses 1 and 2 of the psalm, he cries out of the depths to God. Going back to verse 5, after crying out to God, the psalmist then deliberately and intentionally chose to wait for the LORD. He spends his time in God’s Word and His promises, as seen in the end of the verse that says “and in his word I put my hope.”

You might be thinking now that this sounds more like a verse of the day rather than a battle cry of “don’t waste the wait,” but we are about to get into that right now. On Twitter, I follow a man named Jason Robinson. Jason is a professor at Lee University in Tennessee and if you enjoy the Christian and Biblical content that I cover here on All for Him and have a Twitter, you will definitely want to follow him. Anyways, like always, he tweeted something recently that stuck with me. Here’s what the tweet said, and I will link to it in the show notes if you want to check it out for yourself.

“Stop wasting away “the wait” that God has blessed you with. His timing and plan are perfect.” — Jason Robinson, Twitter

Here’s the battle cry: don’t waste the wait. If you are in a season of waiting right now, fully jump in moment and allow the season to do what it was purposed to do. Don’t waste away the wait. When you are waiting, put your trust and your hope in His Word. Don’t run from the season, but be content in the moment.

I have been through many periods of waiting in my life and yeah, they can be rough. But if no one else has told you this before, allow me to be the first… don’t waste the wait. As Jason said, he has blessed you with this season and his timing and plan are perfect.

I encourage you today to read all of Psalm 130. It is short, only eight verses, and then after you finish I want you to take some time to fully understand what you read and allow God to speak to you through His Word.

During your quiet time, I linked to a song titled I Will Wait For You (Psalm 130) by Shane & Shane on Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube and if you would like, you can worship our Creator with this song. Whether you have heard this song before or if this is your first time, it is a good one and I really encourage you to take this time to just spend it with God.

Remember, don’t waste the wait and pursue Jesus in all that you do. Trust Him, and I hope you have a great day!
