Today’s Scripture of the Day is Psalm 46. I originally was just going to go with the first verse by itself, but the whole Psalm is so good that I am going to read the whole thing. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come and see what the LORD has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” — Psalms 46:1-11
I don’t know who needed to hear that, but maybe right now you are overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, worried, maybe you don’t have the answers to questions in front of you, maybe you are searching for more and don’t know what, maybe you are lost. It might feel like you are beat down, like everyone has left you, like you have been overcome... but let me tell you about God.
God is your refuge. God is your fortress. God is your strength. God is your ever-present help in times of trouble. God is with you. He will never leave you. He will never forsake you. God is for you, and since He is, who can be against you? Be still, and know that He is God. God is good, always. Even when your circumstances attempt tell you otherwise, even when you are hurting, and in pain, God is still good. We have to trust that He knows best, because He does. Christ is all that you need. His grace is sufficient for you. You are not alone. Jesus trumps everything else.
Run to the Father, and find life, life to the full. He is all that you need, and never forget that.
